Welcome back to our series of posts about renowned artists currently active in Lisbon.
From bold murals to intricate stencil work, Lisbon's streets are alive with creativity, and these artists are at the forefront of this dynamic scene.

Joana Vasconcelos was in 1971 in Paris and today she is a prominent Portuguese contemporary artist known for her large-scale, vibrant, and often provocative sculptures and installations.

Vasconcelos is celebrated for her use of everyday objects and materials, which she transforms into monumental works that explore themes of identity, gender, and consumer culture.

Her work often incorporates elements of traditional Portuguese crafts, such as crochet and ceramics, blending them with modern materials like plastics and LEDs.

Vasconcelos' art is known for its boldness and playfulness, often challenging perceptions of femininity and the role of women in society.

Vasconcelos has exhibited her work internationally, including in prestigious venues like the Venice Biennale, the Palace of Versailles, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

Her art is recognized for its ability to provoke thought and dialogue while remaining accessible and visually striking.
