Rita Maia e Silva is intuitive and self-taught artist. Her work was born from the observation and interest in human relations, reflected in her works as a central theme. Her musical background significantly influences her perspective on the world, where musical tones are directly related to the colours and the architectural structure of music shapes her art with regard to composition, balance, rhythm, dynamics, movement, chromaticism and harmonisation of all visual elements. Rita Maia e Silva was born in Lisbon in 1965, studied Modern Languages and Literatures, completed the Piano course and obtained a master's degree in Musical Training. She is currently a teacher at the School of Music of the National Conservatory of Lisbon. Rita published a novel and several short stories, having also collaborated, in a collective, in the writing of plays for theatre. Painting emerged as the most recent form of expression, in a more mature phase of her life, having started this artistic journey in 2023.
